LETTER FROM THE CEO
Dear NSLS family,
Whether you celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, or Yule, December is, for many, a season of celebration. But between the end of the semester, holiday parties, shopping, and both personal and professional end-of-year goals, this month is often a chaotic one.
With so much to do and so many places to be, it’s crucial to create time to rest and practice a little self care. Leisure and rest are actually vital ingredients for leadership; if we’re caring for ourselves, we’re less likely to burn out, and we’re likely to be more creative, more productive, and more effective when we do work. This December, take time to care for yourself and others.
As part of that self care, I’d like to encourage you to include some reflection in your time of rest. With New Year’s and the allure of resolutions on the horizon, the end of the year is the perfect time to look back on everything you have accomplished and learned in 2023, and to use that reflection to determine where you can grow in 2024.
So join us in scheduling a little rest and reflection time. And as you take care of yourself and those you love, remember that for some, the holidays can also be a difficult time of year. Show your friends, neighbors, and community a little extra care and understanding during a time of love and giving.
We’d love to hear from you: pop on over to Facebook or LinkedIn and tell us how you’ll ensure a little R&R this holiday season.
