LETTER FROM THE CEO

Welcome back! I hope you enjoyed winter break and you’re ready for another semester of learning, professional development, and breaking barriers. I'm excited to kick off the new year recognizing Leadership Month.

Leaders are everywhere. They’re the ones who have the power to lead and take action to help others achieve their goals. As renowned leadership expert Alan Stein Jr. explains, strong leaders understand the difference between knowing what needs to be done and doing what needs to be done.

Throughout January, we'll feature special content that breaks down the traits of great leaders, including:

  • Having a growth mindset

  • Building for the future

  • Listening and advocating

The themes mentioned above are directly correlated. For example, the best leaders know how to listen and once they know what's required from them, a growth mindset is essential. It shows a willingness to try something different or execute new ideas.

Stay tuned in the coming weeks for engaging moments from Motivational Mondays, special guest speakers, leadership experts, and member accomplishments.

Plus, you'll have a chance to win one of three $500 scholarships if you make a video answering the following question: What's the best advice you would give a new leader joining the NSLS?

I look forward to hearing your answers, so be sure to get those videos in by January 25.

Have a great semester!
